Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision, citing the game's shorter, approximately forty-minute play sessions. The limited playtime makes sending and reading messages impractical.
This departure from FromSoftware's tradition of message-based interaction is noteworthy, given its past success in enhancing player experience and interactivity. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It offers a fresh adventure with distinct challenges and encounters, while preserving the signature atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
