Embark on your *Avowed* adventure by choosing from a diverse, though not exhaustive, selection of races within Eora's rich fantasy world. While the game boasts a multitude of Kith races, character creation offers a more limited, yet still customizable, range of options. Let's explore the playable races available at launch.
Humans (Folk)

Humans, or Folk as they're known in-game, are the most common race in Avowed, and unsurprisingly, a prominent choice in character creation. As part of the broader Kith group, they offer extensive customization. Expect a wide variety of facial presets, skin tone options, and diverse hairstyles to help you craft a truly unique human character.
Elves

Elves provide another playable race option. Visually similar to humans, they are distinguished by subtle differences in facial structure and, of course, those characteristic long, pointed ears.
Godlikes

While all Envoys are Godlikes within the game's narrative, players can choose to incorporate or omit Godlike features in their character. This adds a unique element to character creation, offering 14 distinct facial features and four hairstyles, ranging from subtle to strikingly surreal. These options are available regardless of chosen race or body type.
Character Customization: Gender and Body Type
Avowed offers four body types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Two corresponding voice options accompany each body type. Furthermore, players can select their character's pronoun (he/him, she/her, or they/them), adding another layer of personalization.
Unplayable Races
While Avowed showcases a vibrant array of Kith races through its NPCs, not all are currently playable. Dwarves, the semiaquatic Aumaua, and the smaller, hairy Orlans, while present in the Living Lands, are not yet available for player character customization. However, future updates or DLC may expand these options.
This covers all currently playable races in *Avowed*. For further character creation details, check out our guide on available backgrounds.
