Unlocking New Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the gameplay mechanics have shifted from the traditional multi-character approach seen in earlier series entries to a streamlined experience where you control a single protagonist who can switch between various weapons. This guide will walk you through how to unlock each weapon in the game, enhancing your combat versatility and effectiveness.

Where To Find New Weapons In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Unlike previous Dynasty Warriors titles where weapons were tied to specific characters with unique move sets, Dynasty Warriors: Origins simplifies the system by allowing you to play as one character who can switch weapons at will. You start with a basic sword, but as you progress through the game and complete missions, you'll unlock additional weapons by defeating designated enemy officers.

To ensure you unlock all nine weapons by the end of Chapter 3, follow this detailed guide on when and how to acquire each weapon:

  • Sword – This is your starting weapon, available from the beginning of the game.
  • Spear – Unlock this weapon by completing the Battle of Guangyang in Chapter 1. You'll need to purchase it to advance the story.
  • Gauntlets – During the Battle of Guangzong in Chapter 1, defeat Zhou Cang to obtain the Gauntlets.
  • Wheels – In the Suppression of You Province mission in Chapter 2, defeat Zhang Ju to unlock the Wheels.
  • Podao – In the Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits in Chapter 2, defeat any of the numerous officers carrying the Podao to earn it.
  • Staff – During the Assassination of Dong Zhuo in Chapter 2, navigate through the chaos to find an officer in a treasure chamber with a secret passage. Defeat him to unlock the Staff.
  • Twin Pike – In the Battle of Hulao Gate in Chapter 2, defeat Zhang Liao to acquire the Twin Pike.
  • Lance – In the Battle of Xu Province, you can side with either Cao Cao or Liu Bei. Defeat an officer on the opposing side who is carrying the Lance to unlock it.
  • Crescent Blade – This weapon becomes available in Chapter 3, depending on the faction you side with. Due to branching missions, the exact mission may vary, but you'll unlock it before completing the chapter.

Additionally, there's a tenth weapon, the Halberd, which is considered the best in the game. To unlock it, you must complete the campaign and then defeat Lu Bu at the Battle of Hulao Gate. This is a challenging task, but the reward is well worth the effort.

By following this guide, you'll be able to unlock all the weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins and enhance your gameplay experience.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
