Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game
Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, not as a new game, but as a significant upgrade to the nine-year-old Rainbow Six Siege. This major overhaul was announced on February 17, 2025, with a dedicated showcase planned for March 13, 2025.
March 2025 Showcase:
The March 13th showcase (10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT in Atlanta, Georgia) promises an immersive experience, revealing the extensive changes coming with Siege X and other surprises. In-person attendance requires a $10 ticket (including a long-sleeve shirt and in-game cosmetic pack) and meeting specific eligibility criteria:
- Legal resident of the USA or Canada
- 18 years or older
- Good standing Rainbow Six Siege account (no bans or sanctions)
Ubisoft is also offering two VIP packages (hotel stay, roundtrip flight, and event entry) via a giveaway, limited to US and Canadian residents.
What to Expect:
Siege X boasts "new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major upgrades." Specific details will be unveiled during the March showcase.
10th Anniversary & Season 1:
Rainbow Six Siege, initially released December 1, 2015, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Season 1, "Operation Prep Phase," launching March 4, 2025, introduces:
- New Operator: Aurora (deployable bulletproof doors)
- New Elite Skin: For Operator Aruni
- New Reputation System: Rewards and punishes player behavior
Given the timing, the major Siege X upgrades will likely be implemented on live servers after the March 4th Season 1 launch. This significant update promises to extend the lifespan of the Rainbow Six franchise.
