Nintendo's Alarmo Alarm Clock: Japan Release Delayed Despite Global Availability
Nintendo has announced a delay in the Japanese retail launch of its popular Alarmo alarm clock due to unexpected high demand and insufficient stock. The original February 2025 release date is now postponed indefinitely.
Production Shortages Lead to Postponement
The decision to postpone the general sale follows a statement from Nintendo Japan citing current production and inventory challenges. While a global launch is still planned for March 2025, the impact on international stock levels remains unclear.
For Japanese consumers, Nintendo is implementing a pre-order system exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. This pre-order period is slated to begin in mid-December, with shipments commencing in early February 2025. Specific pre-order dates will be announced shortly.
The Unexpected Success of the Nintendo Alarmo
Launched in October with global availability, the Alarmo – a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring sounds from popular Nintendo franchises (Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, RingFit Adventure, and more, with future updates promised) – quickly exceeded expectations. Its popularity led to the halting of online orders and a lottery system for online purchases. Physical stock in Japan and even the New York Nintendo store completely sold out.
Further updates on pre-orders and the general release date will be shared as they become available.
