Sphere Defense: A Classic Tower Defense Experience on Android

Tomnoki Studio's Sphere Defense is a new tower defense game for Android, drawing inspiration from the timeless geoDefense by David Whatley. The developer, a fan of the original, sought to recreate its elegantly simple yet challenging gameplay.

The Game's Premise:

Earth, or "The Sphere," faces imminent destruction at the hands of alien invaders. Humanity, forced underground, has developed new technology to fight back. After years of setbacks, they're ready to launch a counteroffensive, and you're leading the charge to save the planet.

Gameplay:

Sphere Defense faithfully adheres to the classic tower defense formula. Players deploy various units, each with unique strengths, to repel waves of enemies. Successful engagements yield resources for expanding and upgrading defenses. Higher difficulty levels demand strategic thinking.

Difficulty and Length:

The game offers three difficulty settings: easy, normal, and hard. Each difficulty comprises 10 stages, with each stage lasting 5 to 15 minutes. See the gameplay in action:

Diverse Units for Strategic Defense:

Sphere Defense features seven distinct unit types, offering strategic deployment options. These include:

  • Standard Attack Turret: Single-target damage.
  • Area Attack Turret: Effective against groups of enemies.
  • Piercing Attack Turret: Ideal for dealing with linear enemy formations.
  • Cooling Turret: Provides support to enhance attack unit effectiveness.
  • Incendiary Turret: Adds extra damage to attacks.
  • Fixed-Point Attack Unit: Precise missile strikes.
  • Linear Attack Unit: Deals damage with satellite lasers.
