Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök that will be available to players next week. This update brings a variety of in-game equipment themed around one of the franchise's most iconic outfits.
In a detailed PlayStation.Blog post, Sony shared their plans for celebrating the 20th anniversary of God of War. The Dark Odyssey collection is a highlight, offering a range of cosmetic items for all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation 5 and PC. This free update will roll out on March 20.
The Dark Odyssey collection boasts a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic, enhancing the visual appeal of Kratos and his companions as they navigate through Norse mythology. Both Atreus and Freya will receive their own unique cosmetic sets, along with a variety of customizable shields and weapons.
The centerpiece of the update is the Dark Odyssey appearance and armor set for Kratos, inspired by a skin originally exclusive to players who conquered God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. This highly coveted set can be claimed from any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly in the roguelike Valhalla mode of God of War Ragnarök once the update is live. Additionally, the update introduces the long-awaited feature to customize Kratos' weapons' appearance without impacting their abilities.

Santa Monica Studio expressed their gratitude to fans, stating, "On behalf of everyone at Santa Monica Studio, we are immeasurably grateful to have had the chance to build the legacy of this series with and for you, the fans of God of War."
