Elliot Page, star of the original PlayStation game, is bringing Beyond: Two Souls to the small screen. Page's Pageboy Productions has secured the rights from Quantic Dream to adapt the story-driven adventure into a television series. While in early development, the project aims to retain the game's acclaimed non-linear narrative structure. Further details, including casting and release dates, remain undisclosed.
Page described his role in the game as "one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences" of his career, highlighting the story's emotional depth as a strong foundation for the adaptation. He aims to create a unique vision that resonates with both existing fans and newcomers.
Matt Jordan Smitt, head of development and production at Pageboy, emphasized the team's commitment to honoring the game's legacy while incorporating fresh perspectives. He noted the exploration of survival and the impact of pivotal decisions as central themes in the narrative.
Originally released for PlayStation 3 in 2013, Beyond: Two Souls later appeared on PlayStation 4 (2015) and PC (2019). Directed and written by Quantic Dream's David Cage, the game follows Jodie Holmes, a young woman with psychic abilities connected to a spirit named Aiden. Its non-linear narrative, spanning various stages of Jodie's life, and its star-studded cast, including Page and Willem Dafoe, were defining features.
David Cage confirmed his collaboration with Page on the television series, though the specifics of his involvement are yet to be revealed. He expressed his excitement at working with Page again, praising his performance in the game and confidence in his ability to translate the story to television. He also acknowledged the game's significance for its millions of players.
