The DOOM community's passion for running the iconic game on unconventional platforms continues to thrive. Recently, a tech enthusiast known as NyanSatan achieved a remarkable feat by successfully running DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, equipped with its own iOS-based firmware and a processor running at up to 168 MHz, became the latest platform to host the classic shooter. NyanSatan accessed the adapter's firmware using a MacBook, as the device itself lacks sufficient memory to handle the transfer independently.
In other DOOM news, the upcoming title, DOOM: The Dark Ages, is set to introduce a range of new features aimed at enhancing player accessibility. One of the key additions is the ability to adjust the aggression levels of demons within the game's settings. This move is part of a broader effort by id Software to make the game as inclusive as possible. Players will have extensive customization options, allowing them to modify enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, and the amount of damage they receive. Additionally, settings will include adjustments for the game's tempo, level of aggression, and parry timing.
Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the studio's commitment to accessibility, ensuring that DOOM: The Dark Ages caters to a wide range of players. Stratton also clarified that understanding the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal does not require prior experience with the former, making the game welcoming to both new and returning players.
