Naughty Dog, the renowned studio behind iconic PlayStation titles such as Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted, has once again re-released its critically acclaimed The Last of Us series. This time, the games are bundled into an all-in-one package for the PlayStation 5 (PS5), titled The Last of Us Complete. The announcement and launch of this two-pack collection happened today, offering gamers the 2022 remake, The Last of Us Part 1, alongside The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.
The Last of Us Complete: Collector’s Edition - PS5
Available for $109.99 at PlayStation Direct, the bundle promises an immersive experience, stating, “Experience the complete story that inspired the TV show with definitive versions of two award-winning games, featuring graphical and gameplay improvements made possible by the PlayStation 5 console.”
The Last of Us Complete not only includes the mainline stories but also packs in all the bonus content released over the years. This means you get the Left Behind prequel DLC focused on Ellie, as well as The Last of Us Part 2’s No Return and Lost Levels content. If you're a fan of the HBO TV series featuring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey and haven't yet explored the original games, the all-encompassing digital bundle is available for $99.99.
As detailed in a PlayStation.Blog post by Naughty Dog's Head of Studio, Neil Druckmann, a physical The Last of Us Complete Collector’s Edition is slated for release on July 10 for $109.99. Pre-orders are open now, and this edition comes with extra collectibles such as a Steelbook case, game discs, The Last of Us: American Dreams comics 1 – 4, four lithographic art prints, and a personal thank-you letter from Druckmann.
“From our entire studio, thank you so much for your incredible support for The Last of Us and Naughty Dog over the years,” Druckmann’s post reads. “This is such an exciting moment for both the franchise and our teams. We are so humbled by your personal stories of what the series has meant to you, have marveled at your incredible Photo Mode shots, and inspired to keep pushing ourselves forward to create more stories and worlds you’ll love.”
Originally launched for the PS3 in 2013, The Last of Us series has been a beloved entry in the PlayStation catalog. However, its numerous re-releases and remasters have sparked both criticism and praise. The journey of Joel and Ellie was enhanced for the PS4 in 2014 and reimagined for the PS5 with a 2022 remake. The Last of Us Part 2, released in 2020, received its own remaster in early 2024. Both games have also made their way to PC, with The Last of Us Part 1 arriving in 2023 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered just last week.
The Last of Us Complete consolidates all of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic offerings into a single package, marking yet another re-release. While some might question the need for revisiting Joel and Ellie’s world again, the timing aligns with the premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 this Sunday, following the recent greenlight for Season 3.
