In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, like its predecessors, you'll carve a path through ancient China, battling alongside various warlords. But eventually, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. Here's your guide to navigating faction selection.
Understanding Factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*
The game unfolds across chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, as a neutral party. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate. However, Chapter 3 presents a pivotal moment: you must choose a faction.
Before making this commitment, the game provides opportunities to learn more about each faction. Complete a specific number of missions for each warlord: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Once you meet the requirement for a faction, a new mission will trigger, forcing you to choose an alliance. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. For example, completing Cao Cao's missions first presents a choice between Cao Cao and Liu Bei (with Liu Bei unavailable until his missions are completed).
Your choice is permanent. Once you select a faction, the others become inaccessible. You can no longer accept side quests from their officers, hindering your bond and skill point progression. The chosen path might present unique challenges; for instance, allying with Liu Bei initially limits access to commanding officers and side quest opportunities for skill point acquisition.
To experience all *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, create a save file before choosing a kingdom, allowing you to replay the game with different allegiances.
That’s how to choose your faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
