Originally released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, Pokémon Gold and Silver revolutionized the Pokémon world with innovative features. These critically acclaimed games, which arrived in the West the following year and Europe in 2001, introduced a groundbreaking in-game clock affecting Pokémon appearances and events. The games also expanded the Pokémon universe with 100 new Gen 2 Pokémon, including fan favorites like Pichu, Cleffa, Hoothoot, Chikorita, Umbreon, Ho-Oh, and Lugia. A 10th-anniversary remake, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, was later released for the Nintendo DS in 2009.
