Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
Warzone's recent troubles follow a challenging year for developer Raven Software. Issues with matchmaking, cheating, and bugs have plagued the game. The latest problem, reported on January 6th, involves freezes and crashes during loading, prompting an investigation.
Although the underlying glitch remains unfixed (as of the Trello bug tracker), a January 9th Twitter announcement revealed a temporary fix: Skill Rating penalties and timeouts are suspended for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player frustration over unwarranted penalties caused by the bug. Penalties will still apply for mid-match disconnections.
This temporary measure offers some relief, but the persistent bugs—even after a major January 2025 update—remain a concern for players. Disruptions to Ranked play are particularly frustrating, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the Warzone development team. A complete resolution is eagerly awaited.
