Mastering Weapon and Armor Upgrades in Avowed: A Comprehensive Guide
Progressing through Avowed introduces increasingly formidable foes. To maintain combat effectiveness, upgrading your gear is crucial. This guide details how to enhance weapons and armor in Avowed.
Upgrade Locations: Workbenches
Weapon and armor upgrades are performed at Workbenches (pictured above). These require specific materials based on the item type and Quality. Most materials are readily available through exploration or crafting. However, advancing a weapon's Quality demands progressively rarer Adra.
Workbenches are situated at Party Camps, established near Adra Waystones. Locate a Waystone, interact with it, and choose the option to set up camp. These camps are marked on your map with a tent icon, enabling fast travel.
Understanding Weapon and Armor Leveling
Avowed employs a two-pronged system for gear power: Quality and Upgrade Levels.
-
Quality: Represented by a numerical value, color rarity (Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Gold), and an adjective. This directly correlates to enemy levels in the Living Lands. Lower Quality gear proves ineffective against stronger enemies. Weapons and armor perform optimally against enemies of the same or lower Quality.
-
Upgrade Levels (+0 to +3): Within each Quality tier, three additional upgrade levels exist. While less impactful than Quality increases, they still boost stats. All three levels must be maxed before advancing to the next Quality.
Strategic Gear Upgrades
Beyond Quality and upgrade levels, Avowed categorizes gear as standard or Unique.
-
Standard Gear: Commonly found as loot or purchased from merchants. These can only reach Superb Quality.
-
Unique Gear: Named items obtained through quests, boss drops, or occasionally from merchants. These can reach Legendary Quality and possess unique bonuses and perks.
Prioritize upgrading Unique gear, saving resources for these superior items. Standard gear serves as temporary equipment and can be sold or salvaged for upgrade materials.
This comprehensive guide equips you to effectively upgrade your weapons and armor in Avowed, ensuring you're always prepared for the challenges ahead.
