Arrowhead Teases Mysterious New Project

Arrowhead Studios, riding high on the overwhelmingly positive reception of last year's Helldivers 2, is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan input.

Community suggestions ranged from a Smash TV remake to titles inspired by Star Fox. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake has been internally discussed, and also hinted at a Star Fox-esque project within the "rail game" genre.

While specifics remain undisclosed, Arrowhead's active community engagement is evident. The success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.

A recent update for Helldivers 2 has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. The "Omens of Tyranny" expansion, surprise-released at the 2024 Game Awards, has been well-received. This update introduced the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps. Coupled with rumors of a Killzone crossover, Helldivers 2 appears poised for continued success in 2025.
