In an official statement, 4A Games clarified any confusion regarding their relationship with Reburn, extending congratulations for La Quimera while firmly asserting their commitment to the Metro series.
"We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games," the statement affirmed. "Our efforts towards the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception."
Beyond the eagerly anticipated Metro sequel, the studio hinted at progress on a brand-new intellectual property (IP), though details remain under wraps. They expressed pride in their Ukrainian roots and the multicultural composition of their team, pointing out that a significant majority of their staff—approximately 150 out of over 200 members—are still based in Kyiv, with additional operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote working arrangements.
Regarding the organizational split, 4A Games provided further context:
"Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we worked closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we established 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, integrating about 50 more colleagues to maintain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine ventured on their independent path with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn."
Since the release of Metro Exodus in early 2019, fan interest in the series has only grown, despite limited updates. While spin-offs and enhancements like the Enhanced Edition have kept the community engaged, many are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky's dystopian universe. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), the studio initially teased a new Metro title in 2019, hinting at a release within the "202X" timeframe before going silent. Now, it appears that the wait may soon be over.
