This two-player board game app offers a collection of Mancala games, including Kalah, Oware, and Congkak. These classic strategy games use seeds or counters and pits arranged on a board. The goal is to amass more seeds than your opponent.
The app features:
- Multiple Mancala Variants: Play Kalah, Oware, and Congkak, each with its unique rules.
- Standard Game Setup: The board consists of six houses on each side and two larger end zones (stores). Games typically begin with four to six seeds per house.
Kalah Rules Summary:
- Start with 4-6 seeds per house.
- Players take turns sowing seeds from one of their houses counter-clockwise, filling each house (including their own store, but excluding the opponent's).
- Capturing occurs if the last seed lands in an empty house owned by the player, and the opposite house has seeds. Both are captured and added to the player's store.
- Landing the last seed in your store grants an extra turn.
- The game ends when one player has no seeds left in their houses. The remaining seeds are added to the opponent's store, and the player with the most seeds wins.
Oware Rules Summary:
- Begin with 4-6 seeds per house.
- Players sow seeds counter-clockwise from a chosen house (excluding the end zones and the starting house).
- Capture occurs when the last sown seed brings the count in an opponent's house to exactly two or three. This triggers the capture of seeds in that house and potentially others, working backward until a house with a count other than two or three is reached.
- If an opponent has no seeds, the player must make a move giving the opponent seeds; otherwise, the player captures all remaining seeds in their territory, ending the game.
- The game ends when one player captures over half the seeds, or both players have an equal number (a draw).
