After a robust Xbox Developer Direct to start 2025, the future looks bright for Microsoft and its impressive lineup of first-party studios. The question on everyone's mind is: which Xbox game series gets you the most excited? Which series provided the most enjoyment during the glory days of the Xbox 360? And for those who've never owned an Xbox, which series are you eagerly anticipating on other platforms like PlayStation, as Microsoft continues its strategy to expand its library globally?
Thanks to Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, the selection pool is vast. This tier list focuses on series with multiple entries, spanning Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard titles. While not an exhaustive list, it aims to highlight series with significant current relevance and historical impact. Here's a look at my personal tier list, based on my gaming experiences over the years:
For me, Doom easily secures an S-tier spot. The recent entries are among my favorite first-person shooters, and I'm thrilled to see that Doom: The Dark Ages suggests id Software is continuing to excel. Similarly, Forza Horizon lands in the S tier as well, arguably the best racing games I've ever played, second only to Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge.
Placing Halo in the A tier might raise some eyebrows. While Halo 2 and 3 are among the finest campaign shooters ever made, recent inconsistencies prevent it from reaching the top tier. I also prefer Fallout over The Elder Scrolls—I'd choose power armor over a dragon any day!
If you disagree with my rankings, perhaps you think Gears of War is Xbox's crown jewel or you're a staunch defender of Fuzion Frenzy. Feel free to create your own tier list below and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community.
