Nightdive Studios has exciting news for fans of the iconic 1999 sci-fi horror action RPG, System Shock 2. The game, previously known as System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, has been rebranded as System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. This remastered version is set to expand its reach, now including a release on the Nintendo Switch alongside its previously announced platforms.
The 25th Anniversary Remaster will be available on Windows PC through Steam and GOG, as well as on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and the newly added Nintendo Switch. This broad platform availability ensures that a wide audience can experience the updated classic.
Here's the official description of the game:
It’s the year 2114. As you awaken from cryo sleep aboard the FTL ship Von Braun, you find yourself unable to recall your identity or location... and something has gone horribly awry. The ship is overrun with hybrid mutants and deadly robots, while the desperate cries of the remaining crew echo through the chilling corridors. SHODAN, a rogue AI with a mission to eradicate humanity, has seized control, and it's up to you to thwart her plans. Navigate the eerie halls of the derelict Von Braun, immerse yourself in its richly detailed atmosphere, and uncover the grim fate of the ship and its crew as you explore deck by deck.
Nightdive Studios has promised that a release date for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will be revealed during the Future Game Show Spring Showcase livestream on March 20, 2025, along with a new trailer to give fans a fresh look at the remastered game.
