Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Adds Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!
Aspyr has unveiled a surprising addition to the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles: the playable character, Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay. This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has also revealed nine other new playable characters, with more to come.
The 2000 original Jedi Power Battles featured beloved characters and locations from Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. This updated version aims to capture the nostalgic charm of the original while adding exciting new content. Along with customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, players will enjoy a significantly expanded roster of playable characters, with Jar Jar Binks being the latest reveal.
The announcement trailer offers a glimpse of Jar Jar Binks' gameplay, showing him battling enemies with his staff. While some fans may have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding Binks, this version stays true to the character's comical nature with signature chaotic dialogue. Jar Jar Binks will be playable when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd, and pre-orders are available now.
New Playable Characters Revealed:
- Jar Jar Binks
- Rodian
- Flame Droid
- Gungan Guard
- Destroyer Droid
- Ishi Tib
- Rifle Droid
- Staff Tusken Raider
- Weequay
- Mercenary
Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character lineup for this re-release. The ten characters listed above represent a diverse range of species and droids, including familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droid types. The inclusion of both Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan Guard demonstrates the breadth of these additions. More new characters are expected to be announced soon.
With the launch of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles just weeks away, fans can soon experience these new additions firsthand. Aspyr's past experience with re-releasing classic games, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, offers hope that Jedi Power Battles will deliver a satisfying and updated experience for longtime fans.
