According to journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed Rocksteady Studios is developing a new single-player Batman game. Details are scarce; Schreier hasn't specified if it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely new story. However, one insider claims it's a Batman Beyond game, set in a futuristic Gotham City, planned as a full trilogy for next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady's most impressive yet. The Batman Beyond setting also addresses the challenge of replacing the voice of the late Kevin Conroy. The studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, similar to Warner Bros. Montreal's cancelled Arkham Knight sequel plans.
Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content and a rushed animated epilogue retconning controversial plot points.
Now, Rocksteady returns to its strengths with a new solo Batman adventure, although insiders suggest it's still years from release.
