Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5090: A Beast of a Card, But at a Price
Leaked details and an Inno3D reveal hint at the upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090's impressive specifications. This high-end graphics card is rumored to boast a massive 32GB of GDDR7 video memory—double that of its anticipated RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti siblings. However, this power comes at a cost: a hefty 575W power draw.
The RTX 5090, codenamed Blackwell, will be officially unveiled alongside the rest of the RTX 50 series at Nvidia's CES 2025 keynote on January 6th. This next-generation lineup, arriving over two years after the RTX 40 series, promises cutting-edge features including Nvidia's DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support. The RTX 50 series will succeed the RTX 40 lineup, some models of which have already been discontinued. Competition will be fierce, with AMD's Radeon RX 9000 and Intel's Battlemage GPUs vying for market share.
Inno3D's iChill X3 RTX 5090, a three-fan behemoth, offers a glimpse into the card's physical presence. Its packaging confirmed the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the substantial 575W power requirement, a significant jump from the RTX 4090's 450W.
The RTX 5090's Power and Price
The RTX 5090's impressive specs come with a significant power demand. Its 575W TDP necessitates a high-capacity power supply. The card will utilize a 16-pin power connector, with adapters readily available. While performance is anticipated to be exceptional, the price tag is expected to be equally impressive, with estimates starting at $1999 or higher. Nvidia has yet to confirm pricing.
The full RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti, will be revealed alongside the RTX 5090 during Nvidia's CES presentation.
