Midjiwan has unleashed a significant update for The Battle of Polytopia: a complete overhaul of the Aquarion Tribe. This marks a substantial rework of the game's first special tribe, originally introduced in 2017.
Aquarion's Aquatic Transformation
The Aquarion receive a dramatic visual and functional upgrade. Land units now boast mermaid tails, granting them amphibious capabilities. They move effortlessly across water but are slower on land. This update introduces flooded terrain, allowing land and naval units to occupy the same spaces for the first time.
Buildings have also adapted to their aquatic environment. Construction on water is now possible, and Lost Cities are hidden within deep-sea ruins, providing ideal strategic bases. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. Aqua Crops, a permanent addition, function similarly to land-based crops.
New Marine Combatants
Prepare for encounters with new sea creatures. Sharks ambush opponents, puffers provide long-range bombardment, and jellies deliver electric shocks. The popular Tridentions and Crabs return, with Crabs now flooding the tiles they traverse, synergizing perfectly with the mermaid-tailed troops. See it in action:
Revitalized Gameplay
Midjiwan has successfully reinvigorated the Aquarion Tribe. Note that Lost Cities appear at level 3 and include pre-built walls.
