Pokémon Go Shadow Regirock Raid Guide: Best Counters, Tips, and Tricks

Author : Chloe Feb 24,2025

Conquer the Shadow Regirock in Pokémon GO! This powerful 5-Star Shadow Raid boss is back, but with the right counters, victory is within reach. This guide details Shadow Regirock's weaknesses, optimal counters, and raid strategies to ensure a successful raid.

Shadow Regirock's Strengths and Weaknesses

Like its standard form, Shadow Regirock is a pure Rock-type. This means it's vulnerable to Ground, Steel, Fighting, Grass, and Water-type attacks (160% damage). Conversely, it resists Normal, Poison, Flying, and Fire-type moves (63% damage). Avoid using these types in your raid team.

Top Counters for Shadow Regirock

The most effective counters leverage high-attack Grass and Fighting types. Below is a list of top performers and their recommended movesets:

Raid Strategies and Tips

While Water and Steel types are super effective, Regirock's diverse moveset (potentially including Stone Edge, Zap Cannon, and Earthquake) can quickly neutralize them. Prioritize counters resistant to or only taking neutral damage from these attacks.

Remember: Shadow Pokémon have a 20% Attack boost but a 20% Defense reduction. High-DPS counters are key to overcoming this within the time limit. Maximize damage with Same-Type Attack Bonuses (STAB) by using Pokémon with moves matching their type.

Ideally, assemble a raid team of at least four Level 40+ players. Larger groups (up to 20) significantly increase your chances of success.

Raid Dates and Shiny Chances

Shadow Regirock raids are scheduled for every weekend in February 2025:

  • February 1st-2nd
  • February 8th-9th
  • February 15th-16th
  • February 22nd-23rd

There's a chance to encounter a Shiny Shadow Regirock (approximately 1 in 20 odds).

Prepare your team, coordinate your attacks, and get ready to capture this formidable Shadow Pokémon! Good luck!
