Meridiem Games Cancels Omori's European Physical Release for Switch and PS4
Meridiem Games, Omori's European publisher, has announced the cancellation of the game's physical release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe. The publisher cited technical difficulties related to multilingual European localization as the reason for the cancellation, declining to provide further details.
This news comes after a series of delays. Initially slated for a March 2023 release, the physical version was pushed back to December 2023, then March 2024, and finally to January 2025 before ultimately being canceled. Pre-orders on sites like Amazon were repeatedly rescheduled, leaving many fans frustrated.
The cancellation is particularly disappointing for European fans, as it would have been the first official release of the game in Spanish and other European languages. While a digital version is available, those wanting a physical copy will now need to import a US version.
Omori, an RPG following Sunny's journey through reality and his dream world, was initially released on PC in December 2020 and later ported to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022. It's worth noting that the Xbox version was subsequently removed due to an unrelated issue with merchandise from the game's developer, OMOCAT.
