Some materials will be a lot more abundant than others in NieR: Automata, but that doesn't necessarily mean you won't need more. The more abundant resources are used on all sorts of upgrades, and for those trying to upgrade many different weapons, you'll need mountains of resources.
One of these more common resources is Dented Plates, which many upgrades will need multiples of at a time. While this material can feel fairly common, there are easy ways to farm it to get the mountains of them you need for all the upgrades you can do.
Where To Farm Dented Plates In NieR: Automata
Dented Plates are commonly dropped from the following machines:
- Small Biped (All Variants)
- Small Flyer (All Variants)
- Small Sphere (All Variants)
These basic enemies will almost always be the most common enemies you fight in any playthrough or chapter you're choosing to run through again. That being said, respawning enemies through fast travel and simply running around won't be the most efficient method for quickly getting materials. The best place to farm Dented Plates is the pit where you first fight Adam during the story.
Fast-travel to the Desert: Housing Complex access point, follow the path deeper into the ruins, and make your way down to the pit. Here, machines will endlessly spawn as you continue to kill them, with multiple basic Bipeds spawning and making up the most common enemy. These enemies may not be very high in level depending on when you're farming for this material, but even at a lower level, they have a decent drop rate for Dented Metal. This is also a great place to farm Titanium Alloy if that's something you're in need of.
If you don't like fighting in just one place, the Forest Kingdom has many groups of Bipeds that fight together forming a phalanx with spears, and these groups usually drop at least one Dented Plate between the many Bipeds within. Running through the forest can also bring you into contact with a lot of wildlife, which is ideal for getting Beast Hide. Higher-level Bipeds do have a higher chance of dropping Dented Plates, so progressing the story will not only bring you face-to-face with more Bipeds but also help you find higher-level ones and increase your odds.
You can also equip drop-rate up plug-in chips to increase the drop rate, just be sure not to die and lose your chips forever.
