NieR: Automata's opening introduces 2B's mission, granting access to a one-handed and a powerful two-handed sword, the Virtuous Treaty, after the initial combat. This weapon is temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable upon gaining free-roam access in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is conveniently located near your starting point after exiting the bunker. In the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To the left, you'll spot a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb onto the road. This route leads back towards the factory.

Descend into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point with stairs leading upwards. From the upper area, locate the destroyed bridge (where you encountered the Goliath enemy). The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge, ready to be retrieved.

Your previous character model is located just to the right of the sword, allowing you to recover any remaining consumables from the prologue.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata

  • Attack: 300-330
  • Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-sweeping attacks, inflicting significant damage on multiple enemies. Its attack speed is notably slower. However, upgrades can potentially make it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also incorporate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack during a quicker weapon's sequence. While this prevents a full Virtuous Treaty combo, it compensates for its slow speed while still leveraging its high damage output.
