Netflix Drops Two GTA Games in February

Big news for Netflix Games subscribers playing Grand Theft Auto on Android! Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City are departing the Netflix Games catalog next month.

This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games similarly to films and shows. The licensing agreements for these two GTA titles are expiring on December 13th. You'll see a "Leaving Soon" tag on the games within the Netflix app.

These GTA classics joined Netflix Games exactly one year ago, reflecting a 12-month licensing deal with Rockstar Games. After December 13th, access will be revoked for Netflix subscribers. If you're currently enjoying the mayhem of Liberty City or the neon-drenched streets of Vice City, it's time to finish your playthroughs. However, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available on the platform.

What are your options?

For those wanting to continue their Grand Theft Auto adventures, the "Definitive Editions" of Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City are available on the Google Play Store for $4.99 each, or the complete trilogy for $11.99.

Unlike the sudden removal of titles like Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest last year, Netflix is providing advance notice. Interestingly, this decision comes despite a significant subscriber increase for Netflix Games in 2023, partly attributed to the GTA trilogy.

Speculation suggests Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on potential future projects, possibly remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars. We can only hope this rumour proves accurate!
