Konami hints at a potential next-gen release of Metal Gear Solid 4, fueling speculation about its inclusion in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.
Konami Addresses MGS4 Remake Rumors
MGS4 Remake Possible in Master Collection Vol. 2?
Recent comments from Konami producer Noriaki Okamura to IGN suggest the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) remake within Master Collection Vol. 2, alongside ports for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and potentially other platforms. While acknowledging the considerable fan interest in bringing MGS4 to modern consoles, Okamura remained coy about specifics. He stated that Konami is actively considering the future of the series and is unable to offer concrete details at this time.
The PS3 exclusive status of MGS4 has long fueled fan desires for a port or remake. The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 last year, featuring remastered versions of the first three games across multiple platforms (including PC and Switch), has only heightened anticipation for a similar treatment of MGS4.
Rumors of an MGS4 remake intensified last year following reports of placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appearing on Konami's official timeline. IGN further reported these titles as likely candidates for Master Collection Vol. 2, although official confirmation from Konami remains pending.
Adding fuel to the fire, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media last November.
Despite the mounting speculation, Konami has yet to officially confirm any plans for an MGS4 remake or its inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2.
