Street Fighter 6, Capcom's hit fighting game, continues to attract players with its latest addition: Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. Having sold 4.4 million copies by December 31, 2024, Street Fighter 6 has seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to this new fighter. While some fans felt the game lacked frequent content updates, Mai Shiranui's arrival as the third character in Season 2 has proven a significant boost. Her release day saw a Steam peak online player count exceeding 63,000—a substantial increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 and the best result since May 2024.
Available to Battle Pass holders, Mai Shiranui offers more than just combat prowess. In World Tour mode, players can cultivate relationships with her, learn her moves, and then put their skills to the test in Battle Hub. A second costume, inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has also been added.
Adding to the excitement, Battle Hub temporarily features Professor Woshige, a legendary fighting game developer, as a guest character until March 10th. New Master League ranks and rewards round out this content update. Capcom showcased Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques in a recently released trailer.
