Final Fantasy XIV's Most Loquacious Characters Revealed

A comprehensive analysis of dialogue across all Final Fantasy XIV expansions, from A Realm Reborn to Dawntrail, has yielded a surprising result: Alphinaud holds the title of most talkative character. This discovery has stunned many veteran players. The study, a monumental undertaking given the game's decade-long history, also reveals unexpected placements for other prominent characters.

The game's journey is a long and winding one, beginning with the poorly received 1.0 version in 2010. Its subsequent shutdown in 2012, triggered by the Dalamud moon's catastrophic collision with Eorzea, paved the way for the critically acclaimed A Realm Reborn (2.0) in 2013. This relaunch, spearheaded by Naoki Yoshida, successfully revitalized the franchise.

Reddit user turn_a_blind_eye meticulously documented their findings, detailing dialogue counts per expansion and identifying frequently used words for key characters. Alphinaud's dominance in overall dialogue is unsurprising, given his consistent major role across expansions. However, the third-place ranking of Wuk Lamat, a character heavily featured in the recent Dawntrail expansion, is a significant revelation. This placement surpasses even established favorites like Y'shtola and Thancred. Another newcomer, Zero, also secured a top 20 spot, outperforming the beloved antagonist Emet-Selch.

The analysis also offers a humorous glimpse into Urianger's character, highlighting his frequent use of "tis," "thou," and "Loporrits." The latter, moon rabbits introduced in Endwalker, feature prominently in Urianger's interactions throughout the expansion and subsequent quests.

With 2025 on the horizon, Final Fantasy XIV promises an exciting year. Patch 7.2 is anticipated early in the year, with Patch 7.3 expected to bring the Dawntrail storyline to a definitive close.
