According to a recent Steam post by Larian Studios, the eagerly awaited Patch 8 stress test build for *Baldur's Gate 3* is set to launch in January. Players can access this build on PC via Steam, and on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Unfortunately, those playing on Mac or through GOG won't be able to participate in this testing phase. The registration form for the stress test is currently open and active.
Larian Studios has emphasized their commitment to "rigorously" testing Patch 8 before its official release to ensure there are no issues with instability or gameplay. "With your help, we’ll be able to keep an eye on any funny business," the developer stated. A significant aspect of this testing will focus on crossplay functionality. Larian acknowledged the challenge, noting, "Bringing crossplay to a game the size of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been no easy task," and they're inviting players to help test-drive this new feature.
Players are encouraged to share the stress test registration link to gather friends for a crossplay campaign. Alternatively, they can visit the Larian Studios Discord Server to find a group to play with. This collaborative effort will help refine the crossplay experience before the patch goes live.
While Patch 8 marks the final major update for *Baldur's Gate 3*, Larian Studios has promised ongoing support for the game's modding community. They've teased "big updates still to come," which will include enhanced functionality to empower players to craft their own stories within the game. Since the official mod tools were released in September, the community has been incredibly active, with over 70 million module downloads and more than 3,000 mods uploaded.
