Insomniac Games nearly brought us Resistance 4, but unfortunately, the project never got the green light. This revelation comes from Insomniac founder and retiring president, Ted Price, during a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games. Price shared that a Resistance 4 pitch was developed, describing it as a "wonderful concept," but ultimately deemed unsuitable due to market timing and opportunity. He expressed the team's passion for continuing the Resistance storyline, highlighting the series' unique alternate history and the untapped potential of the Chimera's origins.
The Resistance series, a trio of first-person shooters developed by Insomniac for the PlayStation 3, presents an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951. Following the success of the Resistance trilogy, Insomniac transitioned to other projects, including the acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man series and new installments in the Ratchet and Clank franchise.
Price's retirement announcement earlier this year marked the end of his 30-year tenure at Insomniac. He appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as the studio's new Co-Studio Heads. Insomniac's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, recently launched on PC, with Marvel’s Wolverine slated as their next title.
