Hearthstone Reveals StarCraft Mini-Set Details and Release Date

Hearthstone's upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st, boasts a record-breaking 49 new cards. This expansion introduces class and multi-class cards themed around StarCraft factions – Zerg (Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Warlock), Protoss (Druid, Mage, Priest, Rogue), and Terran (Paladin, Shaman, Warrior) – along with a single neutral Legendary card.

Initially teased during the November 13th, 2024 Warcraft Direct, the Mini-Set bridges the gap between Hearthstone and Blizzard's StarCraft universe. The detailed reveal showcases three cards per Hearthstone class, five faction-specific cards per StarCraft race (including one Legendary per faction), and the aforementioned neutral Legendary, Grunty. Card reveals will continue throughout the week preceding the launch.

The Mini-Set's card distribution leans into faction-specific mechanics: Zerg cards emphasize summoning Zerglings and leveraging Hydralisks; Protoss cards focus on mana manipulation to deploy powerful units like the Carrier; and Terran cards utilize the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond expansion.

This substantial expansion comes with a higher price point. A complete set costs $20 (or 2500 gold), while individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) are priced at $10 (or 1200 gold). The all-Golden version is available for $80 (or 12,000 gold). Players can also obtain cards through The Great Dark Beyond packs.

To celebrate the release, Hearthstone will host two streamed events:

  • StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST): Featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9.
  • HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST): Showcasing Hearthstone community creators representing each StarCraft faction.

Viewers of these Twitch streams will receive two standard and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs.
