Genki at CES 2025: Unveiling Switch 2 Mockup and Key Features

Genki, renowned for its gaming accessories, showcased a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing several key design features. Based on a reportedly black-market acquired console, the mockup accurately reflects the Switch 2's dimensions, hinting at a larger form factor akin to the Steam Deck.

Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed significant details, including magnetic Joy-Cons with integrated optical sensors. These sensors, possibly activated by a new attachment, suggest potential mouse functionality. The Joy-Cons, while magnetically attached via SL and SR button mechanisms, maintain a secure grip during gameplay.

The Switch 2, while slightly larger, remains thin enough to physically fit within the existing Switch dock. However, design differences render it incompatible. The purpose of a new "C" button and additional USB-C port remains currently unknown.

The Genki mockup also highlighted other notable features: a larger size, magnetic Joy-Con attachment, a second USB-C port, and an intriguing “C” button. While the functionality of the latter two remains a mystery, the magnetic Joy-Cons and optical sensors promise exciting new possibilities. The slightly increased size, while compatible with the original dock in terms of physical fit, is ultimately incompatible due to design changes.
