Obtain Epic Riding Turtle Mount: WoW Update Unlocks Rare Item

Author : Jack Jan 22,2025

World of Warcraft's vast landscape is home to countless dedicated players, making it challenging to stand out. However, acquiring rare in-game treasures like the Riding Turtle mount can instantly elevate your status as a WoW legend. This unique and extravagant mount is obtained through a process of redeeming rare loot cards, a process significantly aided by a substantial supply of WoW gold.

This guide explores the Riding Turtle and how to add it to your inventory.

What's the Riding Turtle All About?

Recent WoW pre-update changes by Blizzard have enabled solo players to form groups, opening up access to exotic creatures including the Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle. This guide outlines strategies for acquiring these collectibles and converting your loot into gold. It's crucial to remember these methods might be temporary, as their efficiency may prompt Blizzard to adjust the game mechanics. Therefore, seize this opportunity swiftly.

Mastering the Art of Angling

Hidden within your garrison's waters lies a treasure trove. Alliance players target Lunarfall Carp, while Horde players seek Frostdeep Minnow, both found at your fishing shack. Returning these fish to the lake summons the Lunarfall Cavedweller and Frostdeep Cavedweller, respectively, which can drop the coveted Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle mounts.

Before embarking on this fishing expedition, you'll need the Draenor Angler achievement (catching 100 of each Enormous Fish species in Warlords of Draenor). This unlocks a level 3 garrison fishing shack, which anecdotal evidence strongly suggests is essential for catching carps and minnows. Even with the upgraded shack, the drop rate is a mere 3%, though this can be improved with optimal gear and powerful boosts.

Why Now's the Perfect Time

Previously, only the player who tagged the Cave Dweller received rewards, making it a tedious solo endeavor. However, the latest patch allows raid groups of up to 40 players to share the loot, transforming the fishing experience into a more collaborative and rewarding activity. This significantly increases the chances of obtaining the rare mounts.

The odds have dramatically improved; previously, securing a Riding Turtle or Sea Turtle required overcoming a 3% fishing drop rate and a 0.5% Cave Dweller drop rate. Now, with up to 40 players, the odds are substantially better.

While you don't need the Draenor Angler achievement to join a raid, group leaders might prioritize players who can contribute to the loot acquisition. If you can't catch your own fish, you risk being perceived as a leech. However, finding a welcoming group or creating your own is highly recommended given the potential rewards.
