Exploring Dynasty Warriors: Origins' expansive world offers various rewards to bolster your combat prowess. While Pyroxene farming yields gems, you'll also discover Old Coins, whose utility isn't immediately apparent.
Numerous methods exist for acquiring Old Coins, with hundreds scattered throughout the game. This guide details their uses and acquisition strategies.
What To Use Old Coins For In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Old Coins are unusable in the game's initial chapter; focus on the main storyline. Upon reaching Chapter 2, complete these main story battles:
- Suppression of You Province
- Suppression of Jing Province
- Suppression of Liang Province
Completing these battles leads you back to Ji, where you'll encounter Sima Hui. After the ensuing conversation and obtaining incense for the Innkeeper, the Shui Jing Retreat will appear on the overworld map near Ji. Here, you can exchange Old Coins with Sima Hui. While you can also manage bonds and review past interactions, the primary function is Old Coin redemption.
Rewards are granted upon reaching specific Old Coin thresholds; redeem them whenever possible.

How To Get Old Coins In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
With 500 Old Coins available, avoid early farming; more efficient methods unlock gradually. Acquisition methods include:
- Overworld discovery.
- Companion and officer Bond Interactions.
- Inn letters after story events.
- Regional Peace rewards at Waypoints.
Overworld Old Coins are represented by small, proximity-triggered icons, unlike Pyroxene. The rewards' value varies; prioritize gameplay, and the coins will accumulate naturally.
