Pocket Gamer recently discovered Dynabytes' Fantasma at Gamescom Latam – a multiplayer augmented reality (AR) GPS adventure game. The game's recent update adds Japanese, Korean, Malay, and Portuguese language support, with German, Italian, and Spanish planned for release in the coming months.
Fantasma challenges players to hunt and battle mischievous creatures using portable electromagnetic fields as bait. Combat takes place in AR, requiring players to maneuver their phones to keep the Fantasma in view and tap the screen to attack. Defeated creatures are captured in special bottles.
Fantasmas appear based on real-world location, encouraging exploration. Players can also deploy sensors to expand their search radius. Team play is supported for a more collaborative experience.
Fantasma is free-to-play (with in-app purchases) and available now on the App Store and Google Play. For fans of the AR genre, Pocket Gamer also offers a list of the best AR games for iOS.
