Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4: A Console Testing Update from Toby Fox
Undertale creator Toby Fox recently provided an update on the console testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. While significant progress has been made, console testing is ongoing, with fewer bugs but still much to address. Fox specifically mentioned that PlayStation 5 testing hasn't even begun yet.
Save Transfer Functionality
A key development is the inclusion of save transfer functionality. Players will be able to carry over their saves from the Chapters 1 and 2 demo to the full release of Chapters 3 and 4 on consoles. This feature, recently made possible by newly acquired technology, is a significant addition. Fox expressed hope for its successful implementation.
With beta testing progressing well, a release date may be imminent. Chapters 3 and 4 are slated for a 2025 release, as previously confirmed by Fox.
A Glimpse into Chapter 3: Tenna
Beyond the technical updates, Fox shared amusing anecdotes about a minigame he's been developing. His family and friends interpreted it as a "cry for help" due to the game's delayed release, prompting both concern and laughter. Speculation arose that this minigame might be intended for Chapter 5, given Fox's previous statement that Chapters 3 and 4 are content-complete.
Furthermore, a friend's comment expressing longing for a character named Tenna, previously seen only in the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign (September 2022), seemingly confirms Tenna's appearance in Chapter 3.
Deltarune, the successor to Undertale, retains many familiar mechanics while introducing a fresh narrative and characters. Players will continue the adventure with Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on their world-saving quest.
