Conquering Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Comprehensive Guide

The game constantly warns against engaging Lu Bu, but defeating him offers significant rewards. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.

Should You Fight Lu Bu?

While challenging, defeating Lu Bu provides bragging rights, is sometimes unavoidable (Shu/Wei alliance in Chapter 4), and grants the "The Strongest" trophy and the game's ultimate weapon (halberd) in post-game.

Phase 1: Mounted Lu Bu

Prepare with a multi-hit weapon for staggering, quick, wide-range Battle Arts (e.g., Falcon Flurry, Mad Blade Rush, Absconding Slash, Flying Dragon Slash), health/defense boosting accessories (Divine Bird’s Wing, Divine Turtle’s Shell), and a weapon granting Bravery on Perfect Evades.

Lu Bu initially charges on Red Hare. Exploit his brief pauses to unleash Battle Arts, then evade his attacks. His AOE is limited except for Red Hare's jump attack. Once his health reaches 80%, he dismounts.

Phase 2: Unmounted Lu Bu

On foot, Lu Bu is incredibly aggressive. His attacks are rapid, and he often has an uninterruptible red aura during dashes. Evade his three-part charge attacks and his grab attempt.

His most dangerous move is a three-arrow volley (orange glow), countered by ranged Battle Arts like Absconding Slash. Close-range arts are fatal. Conserve your Musou gauge for invincibility frames during critical moments. Aggressively attack to build Battle Arts and deplete his Fortitude meter.

Phase 3: Musou Rage

Depleting Lu Bu's health triggers Musou Rage. He becomes unstaggerable and unleashes relentless attacks. Prioritize depleting his Fortitude before his Musou attack. Utilize all available resources—Musou attacks, Battle Arts—to overwhelm him. Failing to break his Fortitude restarts the phase.

Victory!

By mastering evasion, utilizing appropriate equipment and Battle Arts, and strategically managing resources, you can conquer Lu Bu and claim his rewards. Dynasty Warriors: Origins is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
