Pearl Abyss Prioritizes Independent Publishing for Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert Release Date and Platforms Remain Unconfirmed
Pearl Abyss remains committed to self-publishing Crimson Desert. In a statement to Eurogamer, the developer confirmed its previously announced independent publishing plans, emphasizing its ongoing collaborations with various partners. The company also reiterated that no release date has been set, clarifying that any articles suggesting otherwise are purely speculative. A playable build will be shown to media this week in Paris and to the public at G-Star in November.
September investor meetings revealed Sony's attempt to secure Crimson Desert as a PS5 exclusive, potentially excluding Xbox for a period. However, Pearl Abyss concluded that self-publishing offered superior profitability.
While the final platform lineup and release date are yet to be announced, a PC, PlayStation, and Xbox launch is anticipated around Q2 2025.
