This guide explains how to obtain and use the Crystalarium in Stardew Valley, a valuable tool for efficiently producing gemstones and minerals. The 1.6 update introduced subtle changes to its functionality, which are included here.
Obtaining a Crystalarium
The Crystalarium crafting recipe unlocks at Mining Level 9. Required materials are:
- 99 Stone: Easily obtained by breaking rocks.
- 5 Gold Bars: Smelt Gold Ore (found at mine levels 1-80) using a Furnace and Coal.
- 2 Iridium Bars: Smelt Iridium Ore (found in Skull Cavern or from the Statue of Perfection) using a Furnace and Coal.
- 1 Battery Pack: Obtained by placing a Lightning Rod outside during a thunderstorm.
Alternatively, you can obtain a Crystalarium by:
- Completing the 25,000g bundle in the Community Center's Vault.
- Donating at least 50 minerals (gemstones or geodes) to the Museum.
Using the Crystalarium
Place the Crystalarium anywhere—indoors or outdoors. The Quarry is a popular location for mass production.
The Crystalarium replicates any mineral or gemstone (except Prismatic Shards). Quartz has the shortest growth time but low value. Diamonds have the longest (5 days) but highest value.
To move a Crystalarium, hit it with an axe or pickaxe. Any gem currently being replicated will drop. To change the gem type, simply interact with the Crystalarium while holding the desired gem; the old gem will be ejected.
By using the Crystalarium, players can significantly increase their gemstone production, boosting profits and improving relationships with villagers who appreciate gemstone gifts.
