While exploring the wilds in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you'll inevitably encounter a fierce battle with Rey Dau, a formidable dragon monster. This lightning-elemental beast will aggressively attack your hunting party, making this a challenging encounter.

Known Habitats: Windward Plains

Recommended Elemental Attacks: Ice and Water

Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (1x), Exhaust (2x)

Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Flash Pod, Dung Pod

Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds, is immune to lightning attacks. However, it's significantly weak to ice and water. Prioritize attacking its head (4-star weakness) or wings (3-star weakness). Avoid its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Utilize all status effects except stun and paralysis.

Use a Flash Pod

Flash Pods are invaluable. Stunning Rey Dau provides crucial openings for powerful attacks. When it uses its lightning attack, immediately target its glowing red horns (enter Focus Mode for better visibility) for maximum damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

The Hope Armor set is highly recommended. Its Divine Blessing skill reduces damage and offers resistance to lightning and fire, enhancing your survivability. Consider boosting your elemental resistance with a meal before the hunt. Staying close to Rey Dau's legs can help you avoid many of its attacks, as it primarily targets areas in front and behind it.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau's flight patterns create tactical opportunities. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps on the lone tree to briefly stun it. However, exercise caution near its nest, as its follow-up lightning attack there is particularly dangerous.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Rey Dau offers alternative rewards. Reduce its health until the skull icon appears on the minimap, signaling its near-death state. Set a Pitfall Trap (Shock Traps are ineffective against lightning dragons) and quickly follow up with a Tranquilizer to secure the capture. Time is of the essence here.
