Baldur's Gate 3's upcoming Patch 7 introduces chilling new evil endings, offering players a terrifying glimpse into the consequences of embracing darkness.
A New Evil Ending: A Father's Legacy
Larian Studios recently unveiled a 52-second cinematic preview on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing one such ending focused on the Dark Urge. This preview depicts the grim fate of the Dark Urge's companions as they fall victim to their leader's descent into utter depravity, controlled by the will of their "father," Bhaal. The Dark Urge seizes control of the Netherbrain, leading to a horrifying display of power and a reign of terror.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
The preview shows the Dark Urge's companions being subjected to mind control, culminating in their forced deaths. A chilling narration underscores the scene: "Time for the final act. Your tragedy has become mankind's," before the Dark Urge suffers a similar fate.
This is just one of several new evil endings promised in Larian's April community update, which pledged "improved evil endings...for even darker conclusions." Excitingly, these endings aren't exclusive to Dark Urge playthroughs. Previously teased endings included the Dark Urge wading through a sea of blood and corpses, and another where a town is consumed by "sheer mindless bliss" under the influence of the True Absolute.
What Else Awaits in Patch 7?
Patch 7 is a substantial update, brimming with new features beyond the dark endings. Expect a dynamic split-screen mode for co-op gameplay, enhanced challenges in Honour Mode, and a highly anticipated modding toolkit empowering players to create their own content.
Larian Studios has confirmed this isn't the end for Baldur's Gate 3. Future plans include crossplay and photo mode, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing improvements based on player feedback.
Currently in closed beta, Patch 7 is slated for release this September. While the precise date remains undisclosed, players can register on the Steam store page for early access. Larian's dedication to refining Baldur's Gate 3 into a definitive RPG experience is evident, solidifying its position as a genre masterpiece. For a comprehensive review, see our previous coverage.
