Avowed: A Solo Fantasy Adventure – No Multiplayer Here
Avowed has been compared to both Skyrim and Obsidian's own The Outer Worlds, but one key difference is its lack of multiplayer functionality. Despite initial plans, Avowed is strictly a single-player experience. There's no co-op mode, no PvP battles, and no player invasion features. While you'll have companions to aid you, they remain non-player characters (NPCs), similar to The Outer Worlds. All enemies are AI-controlled.
Why No Multiplayer?
Obsidian Entertainment initially intended to include co-op in Avowed, even using it as a selling point for investors. However, during development, the decision was made to drop multiplayer to focus on other aspects of the game. While this might disappoint some, the absence of multiplayer doesn't inherently detract from the overall single-player experience.
Will a Co-op Mod Appear?
Currently, there's no public information about a co-op mod for Avowed on PC. While the possibility exists, creating such a mod is a significant undertaking. Furthermore, Obsidian has confirmed they have no plans to add multiplayer post-launch.
In short: Avowed offers a rich single-player fantasy RPG experience, but it does not include any form of multiplayer.
