Assassin's Creed Shadows: Full Completion in 80 Hours

Author : Violet Apr 06,2025

Creative director Jonathan Dumont has shed light on the time investment required for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows. In an insightful interview with journalist Genki, Dumont revealed that completing the core narrative will take players approximately 30 to 40 hours. For those eager to delve into all the optional content, an additional 30 to 40 hours can be expected, culminating in a total playtime of around 80 hours. This detailed breakdown offers fans a clear expectation of the time commitment involved.

Previously, Dumont had likened Shadows to earlier titles like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. However, given the significant variance in length among these games, such comparisons were somewhat vague. Recognizing the challenge in quantifying open-world experiences, Dumont clarified that Shadows aligns more closely with Origins in terms of scope. According to How Long To Beat, Origins requires about 30 hours for the main campaign and can extend to 80 hours for completionists.

For fans wary of excessively long gameplay, Shadows seems to offer a more balanced experience. In comparison, Valhalla has faced criticism for its demanding 60-hour main story and a potential total of 150 hours when including all content. If Dumont's estimates hold true, Shadows promises a more manageable yet fulfilling journey.

Mark your calendars—Assassin's Creed Shadows is set to release on March 20th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
