The Armadillo, a passive mob introduced in Minecraft's 1.20.5 "Armored Paws" update, inhabits various warm biomes. Its tough scutes are crucial for crafting Wolf Armor. Here's how to acquire them:
Acquiring Armadillo Scutes:
Armadillos are found in groups of two or three within these warm biomes: Badlands, Eroded Badlands, Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Windswept Savanna, and Wooded Badlands. Approach cautiously; they curl into a ball defensively if startled.
Two methods exist for collecting scutes:
-
Patient Waiting: An Armadillo sheds a scute every 5-10 minutes. This passive approach requires no tools but can be time-consuming.
-
Brush Method: This popular method uses a crafted Brush. Gently brushing an Armadillo yields one scute per use. A Brush in Java Edition lasts for four uses, while in Bedrock Edition it lasts five before breaking. Damaged Brushes can be repaired using an Anvil. Enchantments like Unbreaking, Mending, and Curse of Vanishing can be applied to Brushes.
Crafting a Brush:
Combine a Feather, Copper Ingot, and Stick (in that order, vertically centered) in a Crafting Table.
Once you've collected six scutes (required for one suit of Wolf Armor), craft the armor at a Crafting Table.
Currently, these are the only methods for obtaining Armadillo Scutes in Minecraft.
