Farlight Games capped off a successful 2024 with their collaboration with Lilith Games on AFK Journey. Now, as 2025 begins, they're launching Ace Trainer, currently in soft launch in South Korea and the US.
Ace Trainer blends several popular genres. It features creature collection, training, and leveling—think Pokémon—but with a unique twist. Instead of traditional turn-based battles, you'll defend against zombie hordes in a tower defense style, incorporating pinball mechanics for resource gathering. This eclectic mix of gameplay elements makes it a truly unique title. While a global release isn't guaranteed, the multi-regional soft launch suggests Farlight has high hopes for Ace Trainer.
A Risky Recipe?
Ace Trainer attempts to combine many popular game mechanics—PvP, PvE, tower defense, and pinball—resulting in a potentially overwhelming experience. While the inclusion of these elements may appeal to many players, the sheer number of mechanics raises questions about long-term engagement and balance.
