If you're managing diabetes with the Dexcom G6 or G6 Pro Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems, you're in for a seamless experience. These systems are designed to help you make informed treatment decisions without the need for fingersticks and no calibration required.* With the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro, you'll always have an up-to-date view of your glucose levels and where they're headed next, thanks to real-time glucose readings every five minutes. This is particularly beneficial for both children aged 2 years and older, as well as adults living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
One of the standout features of the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro is the provision of personalized trend alerts directly on your smart device. These alerts notify you when your glucose levels are moving too low or too high, empowering you to manage your diabetes effectively. You can also customize your alert settings with the Alert Schedule** feature, which allows you to set different alert parameters for different times of the day, such as during your work hours. You have the option to personalize alert sounds, including a Vibrate-Only setting on your phone for glucose alerts. However, for safety reasons, the Urgent Low Alarm cannot be turned off.
The Always Sound** setting, which is enabled by default, ensures you receive critical Dexcom CGM Alerts even when your phone is set to silent, vibrate, or in Do Not Disturb mode. This means you can mute calls and texts while still being alerted to important glucose levels, including the Urgent Low Alarm, Low and High Glucose alerts, Urgent Low Soon Alert**, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts**. A convenient icon on your home screen indicates whether your alerts will sound. For your safety, the Urgent Low Alarm and three other alerts—Transmitter Failed, Sensor Failed, and App Stopped—cannot be silenced.
Additional features enhance your experience with the Dexcom G6. With the Share** feature, you can send your glucose data in real time to up to ten followers, who can monitor your data and trends using the Dexcom Follow** app. Both Share and Follow functions require an internet connection. Health Connect access enables you to share retrospective glucose data with third-party apps, and the Quick Glance feature allows you to check your glucose levels right from your smart device's lock screen. For those using Wear OS, integration with the system lets you receive glucose alerts and alarms directly on your watch.
*Fingersticks are required for diabetes management decisions if symptoms do not match readings.
